Semiplume, an art organisation
Semiplume is a sub-entreprise of My Egret’s Delivery Service and was established in 2024. The purpose of Semiplume is for young artists to explore their creativity and contribute to the charitable cause of My Egret’s Delivery Service. Our forum-based community helps any nascent art creators produce art and then sell it for the organisation to donate to ethnic minorities in need or those who require the necessary money and are unable to reach out for it in rural regions of Vietnam. We produce art in many mediums from digital to real-life, painting to crafts.
Across regions stricken by instability and neglect, from the Highlands of Vietnam where many ethnic minorities reside, to the underground schools in Afghanistan, many children possess artistic and academic talent but are unable to showcase them because of their circumstances. For many, the very notion of creative expression is a distant mirage, eclipsed by privation, displacement, or regimes where autonomy is anathema.
Ethnic minorities, too, face acute precarity. In some places, their ancestral homes are being clear-cutted or sanctioned by authorities. Wildlife also teeter on the brink of erasure. Poverty, bureaucratic apathy, lack of education: all of which perpetuate a cyclical pattern that's difficult to escape.
Semiplume was conceived as an antidote to this marginalisation. Founded in tandem with a broader cultural revival supported by the president, our initiative sells art and crafts and obtains the donations necessary to turn them into necessities for underprivileged communities, or even tangible repositories. We collect books from school libraries and from people and buy our own books in order to build libraries for ethnic minority children as well. In addition to cultivating expression, Semiplume commits to corporeal relief. At our charity bazaars, we distribute vital staples—rice, sugar, cooking oil—to families in need.
