Egret's Express

Egret’s Express is an online forum which consists of monthly blogs aiming to shed light on contemporary issues related to ethnic minorities and/or underprivileged communities in various countries and humanitarian assistance or a lack thereof in many regions worldwide.

Egret’s Express only accepts 5 blog posts per month on these social and humanitarian issues. We are very selective with our quality of writing, and we hold our contributors to the highest standards of insight, originality, and clarity. We prioritise depth over volume, and every submission undergoes a rigorous review process with ratings from all of our blog editors to ensure that the output is thoughtful.

To demonstrate the format, the way our blog operates, and the quality of writing we are looking for, our first blog edition is written by people from our organisation only, accessed here: (link). This selection includes exemplary articles on interesting topics, with an execution that meets our criterion. We accept content that encompasses a wide range of writing formats, including (1) firsthand accounts and anecdotes, (2) expository writing, (3) argumentative and persuasive essays, (4) op-eds, (5) investigative journalism, (6) narrative nonfiction, (7) photo essays with commentary, and (8) cultural criticism and reviews of non-literary and literary texts.

To write a compelling piece that would merit selection for our blog, we recommend you challenge the way an argument is usually framed. Oftentimes, the most compelling or incisive arguments come from a unique perspective on a subject matter, a point of contention, or a place of contradiction. Nevertheless, if your piece does not adopt an unconventional perspective, we still value substance and specificity. When we read and examine your essay, more often than not, we can already tell if the quality of the piece is going to be good just by reading the title. Should the title be overly generalised or trite, the execution of the topic may be insufficient, as failing to delimit the scope can result in unresolved inquiries or subtleties left unexamined.
